Pastor Tyler's Testimony

Who We Are

We are Tyler and Alyseia Sanchez! We have been married for 14 years and are blessed with four daughters, ages 10, 7, 4, and 2. We met at Evangel University, where we both graduated before getting married and stepping into ministry together.

After graduation, we moved to Montezuma, Iowa, where we served as youth pastors for four years. God then called us to Sioux City, Iowa, where we returned to my home church and served as youth pastors for nearly eight years. Most recently, I resigned from my position as Director of Spiritual Life at Siouxland Christian School to pursue church planting full-time.

Throughout every season of ministry, Alyseia has faithfully served alongside me. In addition to ministering together, she has played a vital role as a worship leader in our youth ministries and at the school. Ministry has never been something I do—it is something we do as a family.

What We Are Doing

Our plan is to launch full Sunday September 27th, 2026! This summer, our focus is on building and developing our launch team. We are casting vision, establishing our mission, and intentionally creating a healthy church culture. We are also working to put all of our teams, systems, and ministry structures in place so that when September arrives, we can be good stewards of every person God brings through our doors.We want to build a church that is ready to serve people well from day one.

Why We Are Planting a Church

Our mission is simple:

To step into the valleys of life with people, lead them to encounter Jesus, and empower them to stand as a vast army.

We want to see young families transformed for generations to come. We believe lasting change happens when fathers, husbands, and men encounter the love of Jesus and are empowered by the Holy Spirit to lead their families well.

The need in our community is significant. In our county, we rank:

• 2nd in prison admissions per 100,000 people
• 2nd in child out-of-wedlock births
• 5th in single-parent households
• 5th in substance abuse rates
• 7th in jail admissions per 100,000 people

As a church, we want to see those statistics change.We believe one of the greatest places to start is by reaching and discipling men. In nearly every area of life, men are challenged to rise higher, yet too often the church lowers the standard. We want to challenge men to become everything God has called them to be. We want to preach the full Gospel, clearly communicate the biblical standard, and call people to a life fully surrendered to Jesus.

What We Need

As we prepare for launch, we are praying for people to join us through prayer and financially. Please put us on your prayer teams list and keep our family, our church and this city in your prayers. We are praying for 30 additional people to join our launch team—people who are passionate about reaching the lost and willing to step into the valleys of life with others. 

Financially we are seeking pledge commitments totaling $5,000 per month for two years to support our family's personal budget, as well as $300,000 annually for two years to fund the operational expenses of launching Valley Church.

Research and church planting experience consistently show that it often takes around two years for a new congregation to develop a strong culture of faithful stewardship and regular tithing. Because our mission is focused on reaching people who are currently unchurched or disconnected from faith, we recognize that building a healthy, self-sustaining church will take time. These financial commitments will provide the foundation needed to establish Valley Church, disciple new believers, and create a thriving church community that can sustain itself for years to come.

The funds will allow us to purchase equipment, resources, and ministry tools necessary to launch and sustain the church. Currently, we have very limited equipment and many startup needs ahead of us. We believe God has called us to this city, and we are trusting Him to provide everything needed to accomplish the mission He has given us.

Personal Testimony 

Before I Met Jesus

My parents were juniors in High school when they had me. My mom came from a Christian home and my dad grew up in a broken family marked by poverty and abuse. By God’s grace, they stayed together and have now been married for 37 years. I grew up in a Spirit-filled Christian home and have been part of the Assemblies of God my entire life.

I gave my life to Jesus at age seven and was filled with the Holy Spirit in eighth grade. However, during high school I began to push the limits of sin. That continued into college when I went to play football and embraced the party lifestyle. One morning I woke up after a blackout drunk night with no memory of what had happened. It scared me enough to transfer to Evangel University, hoping a change of environment would fix everything. It didn’t. I spent the next two years making many of the same choices. Deep down, I always knew God had a specific calling on my life, but that responsibility frightened me, so I ran from it.

How I Met Jesus

On September 3, 2008, I was in a prayer meeting with other athletes in my dorm lobby. There was no agenda—just authentic worship and prayer. While praying in the corner, I finally told God I was done running. As I sought His direction, I felt God clearly call me into full-time ministry.

My immediate reaction was fear. I thought of every reason it wouldn't work: I didn't like public speaking, I wanted financial success, I had a messy past, and I didn't want to be in ministry. I asked God for three signs to confirm His call.

Almost immediately, my mentor approached me and told me not to worry about money or possessions because God would take care of me. Minutes later, another friend said, “Whatever you are praying about, the answer is yes.” The next day, a student I had never met came up to me during chapel and said, “One day you will be speaking on a stage to hundreds of people.” Those were the three confirmations I had asked for.

I changed my major from Business Marketing to Biblical Studies and fully surrendered my life to God. Later that year, on a mission trip to Italy, a woman I had never met told me that God had revealed I would speak to thousands and impact nations if I remained faithful to Him. I asked God for three confirmations but He gave me four. 

After Putting My Faith, Hope, and Trust in Jesus

Everything changed when I fully surrendered to Jesus. I left behind my old lifestyle and devoted myself to following God's call. My desire became simple: hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and keep saying “yes” to whatever He asks.

My family and I have built our lives around ministry. From 2011 to 2022, we served as full-time youth pastors before I became the Director of Spiritual Life at a Christian school from 2022-2026. Today, we are stepping out in faith to plant Valley Church in my hometown. Our mission is to help people encounter Jesus and see families transformed, believing that when fathers passionately pursue Christ, entire families can be changed.
